After a trying season on and off of the field, the Legends finished in a classic come from behind win last night. It was a great way to end to season with just less than 1500 energized fans at the Civic Center.
We have had great meetings down the stretch with the Mayors Office, CVB, Chamber, Ad agencies and others who will help market, advertise and prepare us for 2009 season. Our league has a full page ad in the Professional Football Hall of Fame Guide, positioning us in the greatest game in town.
It was a joy to have Michael Doss, McKinley, OSU National champion Captain and NFL great, present Rashan Hall with an award for his last Legends game and his accomplishments at half time. Fans came from everywhere to speak with and get autographs by Michael and Rashan during and after the game.
We have experienced the best and worst of times, winning the championship in 2006 and finishing last place in our conference in 2008. 2009 promises to be a much better year. We are surrounded by football talent in our area. Our strategy was to bring in the best local talent. We know arena football is faster, more physical cause no out of bounds and a slightly different game. We knew our local guys would need to adjust and we would probably go through a learning curve, which many did. With local guys like Brinson, Murphy, Smith, McClain and Rodriquez getting to know the game better, sprinkled with a few outside greats like McMullen and Mason we look to be very competitive again in 2009. We have worked very hard to overcome many obstacles to get to this point and are proud of our accomplishments finishing with 3 wins - 2 losses in our last five games, and losing 6 games within seven points.

About 30 minutes after the game ended at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington and we're still waiting for the Canton Legends to show up.
The Heroes dominated in every category holding the Legends scoreless through the first three quarters and barely on the black side of total yardage.
An ugly, ugly night. It doesn't get any easier for the 0-5 Legends as they will next face the defending northern conference champion Reading Express Friday night at the Sovereign Center.

by Ed Korns, Canton Legends Head Coach
Well for a first time indoor head coach it was hard to see the good things on Saturday Night after being a half yard from taking the lead with a minute left. Getting up Sunday was a little tougher, but as the sun shine came through my window I could always remember my grandma saying the sun will come up tomorrow, It did. I put the film in and saw that for a fairly young team we did several things right against a veteran team. The mistakes I saw are very fixable and manageable from players to coaches. It will be attention to detail.
This week it is some familiar faces as we will have to score on JoJo and contain Cornelius White. After an off-season where we couldn't come to agreement to bring them back to Canton, they decided to play for there home state Carolina. This will be a tough task as they fixed many mistakes from week 1 to week 2. They lost to Erie and came back and pounded Reading. I'm sure they will bring plenty of fire power.
I would like to thank all the fans and ask them all to bring a guest this week. Our community needs to fill this arena. If everyone last week gets one person we will be close to 3,000.
In closing, my grandmother died on March 17Th a couple year's back and that is why this time of year is so special to me. She was truly one of my biggest supporters and fans. So I finish with another quote from Patsy to how I will take on the 2008 season.
Good, Better, Best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best. Love ya Grandma

Former all-Western New York quarterback Kevin Mason says he was behind by “three to four years” when he first arrived on campus at Syracuse University.
Now, Mason, 35, is taking it upon himself to make sure the same sort of thing doesn’t happen to some of this area’s best present-day football talent. That’s why he and Buffalo Gladiators all-star wide receiver and Kenmore East assistant coach Matt O’Malley designed The Next Level Football School.
“I knew there were guys that had the potential to do something in this area and I always wanted to get my hands on some of them and help them out,” Mason said.
Mason, who spent time in the NFL and currently plays for the Canton Legends of the American Indoor Football League, recruited a few prospects for the first session late last summer.
“It was kind of a trial run,” the Lockport resident explained.
